Mid-Century Modernism in Palm Springs

After visiting Moorten's Botanical Garden, we spend another hour or so riding our bikes, exploring some of the infamous Palm Springs architecture. We did not have a clear plan of places and streets to see. Instead, of following all those lists of the most iconic buildings including the names of many famous architects and residents, we decided to just go with the flow and explore on our own.

Since the town is a mecca for mid-century modernist architecture, we did not have to go far from our hotel. We mainly drove around East Twin Palms Drive and South Camino Real and already got a good glimpse of Palm Springs architecture. Also, it was a quite hot but windy day and we wanted to get some breakfast and then head on to our next destination. Where our very own modernist bungalow was waiting for us on top of a hill in Yucca Valley.

But first, here are some of the things we saw, from sleek modernist bungalows to the tiki-style Royal Hawaiian Estates. Later in the day we also drove past the iconic Palm Springs City Hall with two palm trees growing through its roof.
